Good interface but slow when starts

This app is very good but every time I launch it, the app begons updating its list of bday dates from the address book and it is really slow (it takes 3-4 minutes on my second-generation ipad mini and about 1minute on my iphone 5Ss). The updating algorithm should be improved avoiding full rescans of the whole address book... I have about 2.300 contacts. Maybe could the app scan just the recently modified contacts?
